Northport Advisory Council to Meet

The next Northport Advisory Council meeting is set for Mon., June 11 at Wintzell's Oyster House. As suggested by some members, we'll host it as a luncheon. Lunch will be served beginning at 11:45am. Our speaker, Alan Harper, director of retail development for the City of Northport, will discuss what the future holds for the city as it relates to economic development. Cost is $20/person. Reservations made after this date will be charged an additional $5.

Civic Hall of Fame Nominations Sought

The Tuscaloosa County Civic Hall of Fame is currently accepting nominations for the 2012 class of honorees. Sponsored by the Chamber, the deadline for nominations is Fri., June 1, 2012.

Program is designed to honor exceptional citizens who have made significant, long-term contributions to the overall development of Tuscaloosa County. Any organization, business, or individual citizen is encouraged to submit a nomination.

Nominations must be submitted on the official form found here. These are also available at the Chamber office, located at 2200 University Blvd. in downtown Tuscaloosa. If an individual has been nominated in the past, a new and complete nomination form is required.

The Civic Hall of Fame was born during The Chamber’s 100th anniversary year in 2000, and, since then, 74 citizens have been honored as members. The 2012 Civic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in October of 2012. For more info, call The Chamber at 758.7588.

We have a new staff member! Our new director of membership development is Fallon Franks. She'll receive a BS in Commerce and Business Administration from the UA next month. Fallon was born and raised in Tuscaloosa and is very passionate about her hometown and is eager to grow our Chamber. Her family is very involved in our area with their local businesses. Previously, Fallon has worked in retail sales and has coordinated special events.
